Laion Towah is a scientist, advocate, entrepreneur, and founder of the Deiyan Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating health awareness, Leadership and educational opportunities for girls and young women. Growing up in Liberia, Laion witnessed firsthand how limited access to healthcare, educational resources, and opportunities could profoundly shape a young woman’s future.Â
Deiyan seeks to equip young women with the knowledge, confidence, and support to pursue the futures they envision for themselves. At the heart of Laion’s work is a simple belief: every girl possesses a reservoir of potential that, when nurtured, can change the world

Rabell is the organizational heart of our foundation, meticulously coordinating every program to ensure our mission reaches every young woman. She excels at managing complex logistics and creating structured environments where our community events can thrive and inspire.

Esther is a medical student at UCLA with a strong passion for health education, women’s health, and preventive care. As Chief Program Officer of the Deiyan Foundation, she is committed to developing and supporting initiatives that increase health knowledge, promote preventive care, and advance the health and well-being of girls and young women. Through her medical training and dedication to service, she brings a thoughtful, evidence-based perspective to Deiyan’s programs and is passionate about creating initiatives that empower women to better understand, advocate for, and take ownership of their health.

Our Educate a child initiative
From 2021 to 2025, our Educate a Child Initiative provided full scholarships and educational resources to children and young women, helping remove financial barriers that could prevent them from pursuing their education. Beyond covering educational costs, the initiative provided students with the resources and support they needed to stay engaged in school and keep working toward their goals. Through this initiative, we invested in education as a pathway to opportunity, believing that every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and build a future beyond their circumstances.
Our Covid-19 Initiative
During the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2021, our team launched a community relief initiative to support vulnerable families and children in villages and orphanages. We distributed essential resources including: food, clothing, and other basic necessities to communities facing increased hardship during the pandemic. The initiative was rooted in a simple belief: during times of crisis, no family or child should be left without access to the resources they need to feel supported, cared for, and protected. This early work strengthened our commitment to serving communities and laid the foundation for our continued focus on health, education, and creating meaningful opportunities for girls and young women.
